Summer Equipment Rental Frequently Asked Questions

Interested in our summer equipment rentals while you are in Jasper National Park?  Here are some of the common questions that we receive.  If you have any further questions that are not found here, please click on the link below.

General Questions

When should I book my summer rentals?

We recommend booking your summer rentals as soon as you know when you are going to be in Jasper and the type of activity you will be doing. Be aware of busy seasons such as Canadian statutory holidays and reserve well in advance to secure availability.

If you are planning on camping at Maligne Lake, we strongly advise to book your campsite first before booking your summer rentals with us, as this area is a very popular area and campsite availability may be limited for the time you are going to be in Jasper.

What is included with summer equipment rentals?

For all our summer boat rentals, we provide you with the following equipment:

  • Paddles, Personal Flotation Device (PFD)|Life jacket, whistle, throw bag (tow line)

Additional equipment for specific boat types:

Canoe (Lake or River)

Bailing Bucket

Kayaks (Sea and sit-in)

Kayak skirt(s), bilge pump

Kayaks (Sit-on)

Kayak seat

For Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP) we provide paddle, Personal Flotation Device (PFD)|Life jacket, whistle, leash and throw bag (tow line).

What is the carrying capacity for canoes and kayaks?

Please see our Summer Reservation page, for the approximate carrying capacity for our canoes and kayaks, we advise to travel as light as possible as this will affect traveling times, stability and ease of use.

How much are your summer equipment rentals?

Please visit our Summer Reservation Page for more details regarding all our summer equipment rentals.  All prices are in Canadian dollars and are subject to 5% GST tax.

What can I expect with your Turn Key Experience?

With our Turn Key Experience, this gives you an easier way to get your adventure started in one of Canada's greatest national parks!  

Start of your Rental Period: Check-In at Pure Outdoors - 632 Connaught Dr (Beside Shell Gas Station)

Here we will issue are your rental equipment and boat access instructions for the designated location for your rental

  • Option 1: If you are in Jasper within 24 hours of your rental start date, you may check-in and pick-up your gear between 5-8 pm just so you can get a head start on your adventure.
  • Option 2: Arrive on your start date, store summer hours are from 8 am - 8 pm

End of your Rental Period: Check-Out at Pure Outdoors*

  • All boats are to be returned by 7 pm to the designated area and secured prior to leaving.
  • Return all issued rental equipment and access key(s) by appropriate closing time in store.

*Late of  $50 per hour will be applied if returned after designated times.

Do you offer custom packages for locations not listed on your website

How does the summer rental duration work?

Daily rental duration is from 7 am - 7 pm*

Multi-day rental duration will start at 7 am at the start of your rental period and end by 7 pm of the end of the rental period.*

Half-day rentals are based on availability.  Please contact us to confirm these types of reservations.

*A non-refundable $50 per hour late fee will apply to the following:

  • Late arrival for any scheduled drop-off of boats at designated area

  • Equipment rental return after the rental end date based on the allotted rental period

Changes and Cancellation policy

Any changes or cancellations are to be received outside 72 hours of the reservation date to avoid any cancellation fees.

A written cancellation must be submitted to [email protected] to qualify for any refund to deposit and/or to the full payment.  See our Summer Equipment Rental Policy page for more details.

2. Develop a float plan and leave with a competent individual(s) in the event of an emergency.
